Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we certainly did. Both my kids were home from college so this empty nester was thrilled!  I decided to go very natural with my tablescape, using burlap, grapevine, wood, twine, acorns, flowers and dry beans.

I had these wonderful wood rounds cut at a local firewood market, the man was so nice to help me find the size I needed and he changed me nothing! How wonderful was that! On the two smaller wood rounds I placed a glass hurrican on each, added dry beans for easy wax cleanup, and some burlap ribbon on the candle that I attached with old metal thumbtacks.

I used a burlap runner down the center of the table, I bought 5 yards of burlap at Joannes a few weeks ago when they had that 60 or 65% off coupon. SCORE!
On the larger wood round I placed a smaller round and a  fun grapevine wreath and in the middle added a pumpkin. Than I went to my yard and cut berries and steps from plants and added some cut flowers.

Small Dollar tree glass candleholders became small vases for mums and roses. I wrapped each with burlap ribbon, added twine to secure it and tied on acorn caps hubby and I picked up on one of our daytrips to a local small town.

For my place settings I used a grapevine wreath as the base, than a charger, my dinner plate and than my leaf plate. I kept the napkins white and simple as well as the tablecloth. Check out my 18 pound bird, it was yummy!

I set up the breakfast room table as my buffet table, food, more burlap and lots of  pumpkins and gourds.  Everything was great, but the best part was having my family together around the table, good conversation and fun games afterward! I hope you all had a very blessed holiday!

Tulle Wreath

This was one of those projects where I had bought the supplies a while back and they sat in the closet. Yesterday I decided while I watched holiday movies I would do something productive. I have seen the tulle wreaths all over the Internet and had wanted to make one.  Here is what you need: A roll of tulle bought mine for half off at Hobby Lobby, a wreath form (also from Hobby Lobby), plastic snowflake ornaments (Dollar tree), Glitter, glue and a glue gun. Ohhh and some ribbon it hang your wreath.

I started out cutting my tulle, my method is not one to follow, I had to do some trimming. Personally next time I will measure and cut all my tulle ahead of time. As I cut a few I started tying the on my form. I would do several than push them all together real tight. Once you get going this is easy and quick!

I had looked for white snowflakes and blue ones, never found the blue so I brushed glue on some of the white one and added my own glitter. HINT: do not do this while sitting on your bed as a large dog could come bounding in and jump in the middle of all your glitter just to say hello! Just saying it could happen. On the plus side you will wake up for mornings to come with a little sparkle!!

See that arrow, yup that's where for whatever reason I cut too short. I am dealing with that by trying to hide it with my hanging ribbon!

I had this ribbon on hand and I really want a solid color so I will be on the hunt for a wider, solid blue ribbon, but you get the idea.

Not too shabby for my first one! This is will be going to school with my daughter to add a little holiday decor to her college apartment.

Thanks for joining me and hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!

Christmas Countdown

This is one of those projects that I have worked on and off of for over a month. I cannot believe I did not take more pics but since it was one of those projects I kept putting down, it just didn't happen. I first found this idea on pinterest and told Mr. C about it, who was sweet enough to cut me 16 inch wood rounds, he also primed them for me. I than drew a square that I painted with chalkboard paint. The back of the round as well as the sides were painted black.

I than modpoged holiday scrapbook paper onto the round (sorry no pic) and than started working with my Cameo, this is the first project I have done with it. So glad I bought the cheap vinyl to practice with as I went through several before I got the size right!

Once the vinyl was done, I found these buttons to add for decoration but they looked boring..

I took my jute and laced them, so they were ready to be placed.

Around the chalkboard square it needed something so I added a strand of the jute and than to each corner the buttons were hot glued on.

At the very top I added a bow made from burlap ribbon, just a little something. I am pleased with it and will make another, I hope next time since I now kinda know what I am doing it will not take as long! Now I need to find an easel!

Thanks for stopping by!!
