Met. Monday ~ Homemade Cloche

Welcome to Met Monday..hosted by Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch..hop on over and visit her blog and see some really beautiful ideas around blog world. http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
Today I decided to make my own homemade cloche..I have priced them and since I am not sure if I would use it often decided to make my own. So after visiting many post and gathering ideas here and there and adding some of my own (sounds like a family recipe doesn't it) I came up with this. I visited Hobby Lobby and bought this 3.00 candle hurricane and a wood round half off for .50, and the little wood top for 1.50..and of course I used me handy dandy Gorilla Glue.
When I brought it home I sat and looked because I was not sure what I was going to do, I decided to glue the top onto my wood circle and paint it red!

After painting it red, I painted it black, did some sanding (see the sand dust) and ended up with this..

So I took my dusty little top, flipped over my hurricane and took a look..hmmm maybe this will work..

I went to the dining room and collected a compote and a pickle dish..

Flipped my compote over..

Set the pickle dish on top, added some glass acorns at stuff to the hurricane..

Flipped it over..whats missing????

ohh yes..the top..so what do you think? I did not glue anything together but I will but with hot glue, that makes it easy to remove when I turn my pickle dish and compote back into what they are intended for!

Well that's my little makeover today, still thinking of other ideas so check back next week! Have a wonderful Met. Monday everyone...

So funny-my post today is a home made cloche and pedastalled vase, but I haven't glued down the glass yet and I could flip it and make it into another cloche.

I am your new follower

Aren't you the clever one. I think I'm going to try making something to use as a cloche. I don't have one.

Oh I think this is absolutely fantastic. I LOVE it. You have such creativity. I would never have thought of this. I can't wait to see it in the "Holiday Cloche Party". Just fantastic. Hugs, Marty

I love cloches, and I applaud anyone who makes them themselves. I like your version! Great job.
