Bigger is Better

Back in March 2011 I made my first message chalkboard. I was so excited because it killed three birds with one stone. It got a frame out of my garage, it covered the lovely hole in the wall after we removed the 1970's intercom and it gave me a great place to write messages and have a grocery list! At the time I thought it was the perfect size measuring 23.5 x 27.5..but I was wrong!

I told my family I wanted something bigger, they were all opposed to anything bigger on the wall. But while shopping at Hobby Lobby one day I found a large mirror in the 80% area, it was a black frame and the mirror was cracked. You can guess.it came home with me!  The mirror was removed, the black frame was primed and painted linen white and than I glazed the frame in a coffee glaze. The inner beading on the fame I did a lite dry brush stroke of the glaze and wiped lots of it off.

While the family like the frame, they still are said it was too big for the wall. I stood my ground and we cut and painted out a chalkboard.

I love how the white pops on the inner moulding.

And here it is on the wall! Its a huge 31.5 x 43.5, and guess what after the fam saw it on the wall they all loved it! And you would be proud I never said "I told you so" well ok..just once! LOL  I love it!! It is perfect, has plenty of room for everything I need.
So sometimes ladies..Bigger is Better!!!

And you might wonder what happened to the smaller one..well it was my first and I could not get rid of it so it hangs proudly in the laundry room and is perfect there!!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful week!!!
