Dollar Store Serving Tray

Have you seen the cute little silver serving trays at the dollar store? Well I happened to pick one up and try making it into a chalkboard like I have seen around blog land. Heck, its a buck if I screw it up..no big loss..right?

First I primed it and than added 3 coats of chalkboard paint. I did not tape, just was very careful and than took a toothpick (fancy tools used here)  and went around the edges to clean it up. I love how it turned out and bonus..its magnetic!! I also am toying with the idea of adding ribbon so it can hang. I think I might be doing this again, would make great gifts!!

Thanks for joining me and look for me next week as I have a big project reveal..I hope...lol

Thank you for such a good idea! I currently have about 45 of these little trays that we're using in the centerpieces for my DD's wedding in a few weeks. I wondered what we were going to do with them after the festivities. Homemade Christmas gifts! Yea!
