Metamorphosis Monday!

Welcome to another Met. Monday sponsored by Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ please go visit her and see so many great projects! Thanks Susan for hosting!!!!

This is one of the first project my husband and I did. When we moved into this house he found old shutters in the attic, he tossed them in the garbage and I went and dug them out. We had hundreds old cd's and I thought..hummmm why not a cd cabinet. We had the doors so we were halfway there. It was a beautiful Saturday, so he build the cabinet, we stained the wood and the shutters, found some old hardware and there it was a 10 foot tall cd case. Now after all these years we are thinking about getting rid of it, it served its purpose but I still love it because it was the beginning of some crazy projects together.

Take this style ottoman, in this style fabric, make it even more bubblegum pink, add the face it had been sitting in an attic for 15 years and now you know why no one wanted to buy it at a garage sale for 5.00. Well no one except me! I had no clue what I was going to do with it, but I knew it was coming home with me. My husband just shook his head and wondered what now!

We ripped off the old nasty pink fabric, removed the padding, added new padding, took an old fur throw and recovered it. So the only thing new for this project were the legs and the garage sale ottoman, costs for both...10.00!
We bought new legs at Lowes, painted them red, painted them black, sanded them and than put some umber on them.

Great projects. What a wonderful use of the shutters, and that ottoman is just gorgeous. I love ottomans, they have so many uses. Yours is very unusual with the fur. Great job. Hugs, Marty

What great projects. I laughed when you said you dug them out of the trash after hubby threw them out, sounds alot like our house! What a unique way to store your cd's. And I love what you did with the ottoman, particularly the paint finish on the legs. Kathy
